Abstract:Inadequate pain relief in the postoperative phase is a well-known problem world-wide. Aside from the suffering caused by insufficient pain relief, this is an issue with potential adverse physiological and psychological consequences for patients in addition to financial draw backs for caregivers. Poorly managed pain may interfere with postoperative complications, cause patient suffering and prolong recovery.
