Abstract:We compare three novel structures of optical wavelength filters. They are composed of cascaded directional couplers. The improved filtering devices have narrower lateral widths and occupy smaller areas than our original design. And their optical characteristics and performances are analyzed by the finite difference beam propagation method employing the Runge-Kutta method (RKBPM). The simulation results shows that these new types of filters have better suppression of lightwave components at short wavelengths.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
