A Compilation of Silicon, Rare Earth Element and Twenty‐One other Trace Element Concentrations in the Natural River Water Reference Material SLRS‐5 (NRCCNRC)

Abstract: International audienceThe natural river water certified reference material SLRS-5 (NRC-CNRC) was routinely analysed in this study for major and trace elements by ten French laboratories. Most of the measurements were made using ICP-MS. Because no certified values are assigned by NRC-CNRC for silicon and 35 trace element concentrations (rare earth elements, Ag, B, Bi, Cs, Ga, Ge, Li, Nb, P, Rb, Rh, Re, S, Sc, Sn, Th, Ti, Tl, W, Y and Zr), or for isotopic ratios, we provide a compilation of the concentrations an… Show more

“…All certified major (Ca, Mg, K, Na, Si) and trace element (Al, As, B, Ba, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Ga, Li, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, all REEs, Sb, Sr, Th, Ti, U, V, Zn) concentrations of the SLRS-5 standard (e.g., Yeghicheyan et al, 2013) and the measured concentrations agreed with an uncertainty of ±10 to ±20%. The agreement for Cd, Cs and Hf was between 30 and 50%.…”

“…The soil samples were prepared in according environmental protection agency (EPA) soil sampling protocol. Yeghicheyan et al (2013), using river water reference material for trace metals (TM) with a large compositional range (SLRS5, National Research Council of Canada). The total relative uncertainties were ca ±5%.…”

“…P is not certified in this CRM. An indicative concentration was published in Yeghicheyan et al (2001), but a more recent value [P] 4 was retrieved from the SLRS-5/SLRS-4 concentration ratio R P published in Heimburger et al (2013), and its concentration [P] 5 in SLRS-5 published in Yeghicheyan et al (2013). These values are respectively equal to R P = 1.43 ± 0.02 and [P] 5 = 8.2 ± 3 µg L −1 .…”
