A comprehensive aerobiological study of the airborne pollen in the Irish environment

Abstract: Respiratory allergies triggered by pollen allergens represent a significant health concern to the Irish public. Up to now, Ireland has largely refrained from participating in long-term aerobiological studies. Recently, pollen monitoring has commenced in several sampling locations around Ireland. The first results of the pollen monitoring campaigns for Dublin (urban) and Carlow (rural) concerning the period 2017–2019 and 2018–2019, respectively, are presented herein. Additional unpublished pollen data from 1978… Show more

“…However, in China none of the patients had sIgE to Phl p 2. Instead, the level of sensitivity to Phl p 1 was 22%, to Phl p 5.0101%–14%, to Phl p 6%–8% and to Phl p 7%–3% 40 . From these data, only the result for Phl p 7 coincides with those obtained in the current study.…”

However, the sensitivity to this component, as it was already noted, is non‐essential.…”

“…Also, an aerobiological approach and the contribution of aerobiology in the diagnosis and treatment of pollen allergy are one of the developing areas. An aerobiological approach will not only give a more accurate diagnosis but will also help detect and treat more accurately the actual pollen to which the person may be allergic [6].…”
