A Comprehensive Experimental and Simulation Study of Ignition Delay Time Characteristics of Single Fuel C1–C2 Hydrocarbons over a Wide Range of Temperatures, Pressures, Equivalence Ratios, and Dilutions

Abstract: A comprehensive experimental and modelling study of the ignition delay time (IDT) characteristics of some single prominent C1-C2 hydrocarbons including methane, ethane, and ethylene have been performed over a wide range of temperatures (~800-2000 K), pressures (~1-80 bar), equivalence ratios (~0.5-2.0), and dilutions (~75-90%). An extensive literature review was conducted, and available data were extracted to create a comprehensive database used in our simulations. Based on existing literature data, an experim… Show more

“…The experimental uncertainty is estimated to be 2% in the reported temperature and 25% in reported IDTs, due mainly to the uncertainties in the initial temperature (±3–13 K). 9 Ignition data and volume profiles for each tested condition are reported in the Supporting Information .…”

“…Additional comparisons with the literature data are available in the Supplementary Materials. [29] and Badigmohammadi et al [28], lines: model simulations. For 1-butene, both NUIGMech 1.1 and AramcoMech 2.0 still predict fairly well the measured data at all pressures, (Figure 9).…”

“…To avoid non-ideal effects on the ST data and heat release effect on the RCM data, we have pre-processed the experimental data before fitting the correlation. Specifically, for ethylene, the RCM data from Baigmohammadi et al [28] were replaced by the results simulated by NUIGMech 1.1 with the constant volume approach. The data from Yang et al [32] can be predicted only by their model, thus the IDTs data over 1000 µs were replaced by the results simulated by the ChuanDa model, also with the constant volume approach.…”

“…Низкие значения MN существенно снижают мощность ГПД [12] и сокращают срок его службы вследствие повышенного износа. Например, компания Cummins Westport гарантирует штатную работу своих двигателей лишь при использовании газового топлива с MN более 65, а для некоторых типов -и более 75 [13] [14][15][16], либо с использованием машин быстрого сжатия [16][17][18], т.е. при высоких температурах и давлениях в сильно разбавленных инертными газами смесях.…”
