A Comprehensive Test Pad for Bradenhead Pressure Mitigation in the DJ Basin

Abstract: Bradenhead pressure, or sustained casing pressure, is pressure build up in the annular space between the surface casing and the next smaller diameter casing string within the wellhead. The objective of the test pad was to determine if increasing the physical flexibility of cement and rotating the casing string to increase displacement efficiency would help improve the cement bond to casing, decrease cement channeling, and help eliminate future bradenhead pressure accumulation. A twelve well pad … Show more

“…Wellbore leakage (SCVF/GM) is a complex process with many possible, yet poorly understood, drivers. , For example, poor curing/installation of wellbore cement can result in permanent fluid transmission pathways for SCVF/GM; , production type, geography, and geology may influence emissions; , and well casing/cement degradation can result in issues that develop over time. , GM study is further complicated since gas may not be emitted uniformly around a wellhead, if at all. Perhaps because of these complexities, well integrity tracking in Canada has largely relied on periodic testing.…”
