La Construcción de Conocimiento (CC) es un marco teórico que promueve la indagación colectiva para resolver problemas del conocimiento relevantes en una comunidad educativa. Hay un número cada vez mayor de autores que buscan los beneficios de este enfoque, por lo que se necesita una visión general de las tendencias de la investigación. El objetivo de este estudio es proporcionar el estado del arte relacionado con la producción de investigación sobre la pedagogía de la Construcción de Conocimiento, incluidas las tendencias y temas relevantes. En este estudio se aplicó un diseño explicativo secuencial que combina los enfoques cuantitativos (análisis cienciométrico) y cualitativos (revisión sistemática). La muestra se seleccionó de las producciones más recientes publicadas en revistas indexadas en la base de datos Web of Science. El análisis cienciométrico muestra una dinámica de publicación típica de un campo de investigación emergente. En la fase cualitativa, el análisis revela las tendencias de investigación sobre la creación de conocimiento, así como los beneficios de ponerlo en práctica en una amplia gama de contextos, exponiendo que la tecnología es un componente relevante del aprendizaje basado en la pedagogía. Estos beneficios se refieren principalmente a la profundidad de pensamiento de los individuos y las habilidades de colaboración dentro de entornos de aprendizaje sostenidos por computadora.

PurposeComplex social interactions such as argumentation and persuasion are increasingly common in online communications. To better understand these interactions and their impacts on people and on the society, it is important for the authors to understand how people reason online such as when they need to justify themselves or convince others with their perspectives. Reasoning in online discussions is expectedly to be different from doing so offline, as one often communicates with others anonymously and asynchronously in such contexts (e.g. Reddit discussions). The purpose of this paper is to investigate people's reasoning behavior in online environments focusing on how they justify their perspectives.Design/methodology/approachIn this study, the authors examined how a subreddit Change My View (CMV) users offer their opinions and justify them through the lens of argumentation and reasoning. The authors annotated, 330 Reddit discussion original posts (OPs) to identify claims, rationales and supports for reasoning, i.e. personal experiences, definitions, domain expertise and external sources. The authors investigated the correlations among the occurrences of these supporting statements and whether they are related to the topics of the posts.FindingsThe findings suggest that if people mention their domain expertise, they tend to provide related personal experiences as well. Additionally, if the participants talk about the topic of domestic politics, they tend to utilize their personal experiences.Research limitations/implicationsFurther research may be conducted to help system designers. System designers (e.g. online debate systems, collective decision-making systems, etc.) may benefit from the findings to design systems by considering commonly used supporting statements, which may enhance people's reasoning and argumentation processes. The sample size is a small sample. The authors acknowledge that the small sample size of the study may limit the generalizability of the findings; however, it is still acceptable compared to the existing literature. One future study could be annotating a larger dataset to further probe the use of supporting statements in online reasoning.Practical implicationsThe authors' findings might be useful to understand how Reddit users are justifying their opinions as the reflection of their reasoning processes. In order to contribute further research in argumentation and reasoning in online platforms, the authors make the annotated dataset publicly available.Originality/valueTo best of the authors' knowledge, this study was one of a few studies whose purpose is to understand Reddit CMV users' reasoning processes. PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to identify the triggers, strategies and outcomes of collaborative information-seeking behaviours of researchers on the ResearchGate social networking site.Design/methodology/approachData were collected from the population of researchers who use ResearchGate. The sample was limited to the Ph.D. students and assistant professors in the library and information science domain. Qualitative interviews were used for data collection.FindingsBased on the findings of the study, informal communications and complex information needs lead to a decision to use collaborative information-seeking behaviour. Also, easy access to sources of information and finding relevant information were the major positive factors contributing to collaborative information-seeking behaviour of the ResearchGate users. Users moved from collaborative Q&A strategies to sharing information, synthesising information and networking strategies based on their needs. Analysis of information-seeking behaviour showed that ResearchGate users bridged the information gap by internalizing new knowledge, making collaborative decisions and increasing their work's visibility.Originality/valueAs one of the initial studies on the collaborative information-seeking behaviour of ResearchGate users, this study provides a holistic picture of different triggers that affect researchers' information-seeking on ResearchGate.
