A consistent treatment of mixed‐phase saturation for atmospheric thermodynamics
Robert A. Warren
Abstract:Ice processes are integral to the formation and maintenance of high‐level clouds and can contribute substantially to the buoyancy of deep moist convection. These processes are represented in modern microphysics parameterisations but are commonly ignored in theoretical treatments of moist thermodynamics. While many thermodynamic variables can be defined uniquely for saturation with respect to liquid water and ice, it is desirable to account for the presence of mixed‐phase condensate, which is common in real clo… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
