A Continuous Review Production-Inventory System with a Variable Preparation Time in a Fuzzy Random Environment

Abstract: With the increase in the varieties products and the increasing uncertainty about product demand, the production preparation time is a significant factor in addressing these issues. The trade-off between the reduction of the production preparation time and the associated cost remains a critical decision. With this backdrop, this study presents a continuous review production-inventory model with a variable production preparation time and a time-dependent setup cost. The demand during the preparation time is capt… Show more

“…From the reviewed literature and the five classification criteria, the main findings reveal that almost one-third of the studies introduce sustainability aspects into designs by incorporating reverse and closed-loop logistics, whereas the environmental approach is widely studied in the reviewed articles. Uncertainty considerations should also be included in stochastic and fuzzy inventory management models [48]. Additionally, the new results from this study can be proposed on a roadmap that contemplates the main trends and future research guidelines, based on the main limitations and future research proposals of the reviewed articles, to be addressed by SIM quantitative models (Figure 6).…”

“…In this direction a modified optimization technique for quadrilateral fuzzy number was invented by Kumar et al [26]. In the similar direction a production model with variable lead time under fuzzy demand was proposed by [27]. A close loop supply chain under uncertain fuzzy T environment was developed by Garai et al [28].…”

“…Yadav et al [9] utilized several sustainability policies and preservation technology to maintain the number of products and reduce waste. Mahapatra et al [10] planned to reduce wastes coming from deteriorated products in the same direction. They proved that the circular economy concept could be formed by lowering total cost minimization waste.…”
