A Critical Appraisal of the First-year Experience of 5 Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeons

Abstract: The majority of surgical cases in the first year of practice are due to trauma and infection. A high volume of patients must be seen to establish a practice, particularly given the high rate of Medicaid patients. These figures provide benchmarks to guide training programs and to establish realistic expectations for new pediatric orthopaedic surgeons and their partners.
