A DAB Converter with Common-Point-Connected Winding Transformers Suitable for a Single-Phase 5-Level SST System

Abstract: One of the main disadvantages of the multi-level solid-state transformer (SST) system is the voltage imbalance on the output of the rectifier modules. This voltage imbalance can be caused by parameter mismatch of the active and passive components, different loads, and the floating structure of the high voltage DC-links. Some studies have been done to solve this voltage imbalance problem. A common way to avoid this imbalance is to balance the voltage of DC-links at the AC/DC conversion stage and balance the pow… Show more

“…As the MMC-PET consists of different power stages, each stage has its own control system. Different control targets should be achieved simultaneously, the power transferred between power stages should be balanced [12], [13]. MMC controller achieves different tasks internally such as keeping the cell voltage at a certain level and regulates the circulating currents flowing between the three phases.…”

“…When the voltage A bi-directional H-bridge converter was suggested with high frequency isolation for PV/ESS. Dual active bridge (DAB) converters have been widely used in various renewable devices with high efficiency, high performance, galvanic isolation, and an inherent soft switching function [8,9]. There are two H-bridges in a DAB converter and a single transformer operating in high frequency.…”

“…Meanwhile, since the allowable weight and volume of a traction transformer are restricted, the solid-state transformer (SST) (also known as the Power Electronic Transformer, Energy Router, Intelligent Universal Transformer, etc.) has been one of the main elements in the EI, FREEDM, and microgrids [5]. Compared with traditional transformers, the SST has several advantages, such as low weight, low volume, unity power factor, fault isolation, bidirectional power flow capability, high controllability, etc.…”
