A deep ATCA 20 cm radio survey of theAKARIDeep Field South near the South Ecliptic Pole

Abstract: The results of a deep radio survey at 20 cm wavelength are reported for a region containing the AKARI Deep Field South (ADF-S) near the South Ecliptic Pole (SEP), using the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA). The survey (hereafter referred to as the ATCA-ADFS survey) has 1σ detection limits ranging from 18.7 to 50 µJy beam −1 over an area of ∼1.1 deg 2 , and ∼2.5 deg 2 to lower sensitivity. The observations, data reduction and source count analysis are presented along with a description of the overall sc… Show more

“…In the present paper, new measurements, mainly from GALEX, Spitzer/MIPS sample (Rieke et al 2004, taken from public database and for a part of ADF-S sources, measured directly from images by ourselves), WISE (Wright et al 2010), and ATCA-ADFS survey (White et al 2012), as well as new spectroscopic data not included in our previous studies (Sedgwick et al 2011;Jones et al 2009), were added to create the extended version of our multi-wavelength catalog.…”

“…Eight of our sources have 20 cm counterparts from the ACTA-AKARI survey. Unfortunately, two of them are unresolved (according to White et al 2012, the ratio of the integrated flux density and peak flux density for unresolved sources is lower than 1.3). As for our SED fitting method, every additional model requires additional parameters.…”

“…The ADF-S field was also observed in other wavelength ranges, i.e., at millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths (Hatsukade et al 2011), radio wavelengths (White et al 2012), and mid-and far-infrared wavelengths (Clements et al 2011). Additionally, dedicated spectroscopic measurements of selected ADF-S sources were performed by Sedgwick et al (2011) in order to build the FIR luminosity function of local star-forming galaxies.…”

“…A criterium often adopted in the literature is to consider sources with Stot/S peak < 1.3 to be unresolved (White et al 2012). However, since we combine two different maps and the total flux density can come from the tapered image, this kind of analysis is somewhat misleading.…”
