A diagnostic prediction model for hypertension in Han and Yugur population from the China National Health Survey (CNHS)

Abstract: Background:The prevalence of hypertension is high among Chinese adults, thus, identifying non-hypertensive individuals at high risk for intervention will help to improve the efficiency of primary prevention strategies. Methods:The cross-sectional data on 9699 participants aged 20 to 80 years were collected from the China National Health Survey in Gansu and Hebei provinces in 2016 to 2017, and they were nonrandomly split into the training set and validation set based on location. Multivariable logistic regressio… Show more

“…9,16 Hypertension was defined as a SBP ≥140 mmHg or a DBP ≥90 mmHg or being diagnosed with hypertension in the past or currently taking antihypertensive medications. 17 Hyperuricemia was defined as serum uric acid (SUA) levels higher than 360 μmol L −1 (approximately 6 mg dL −1 ) in women and 420 μmol L −1 (approximately 7 mg dL −1 ) in men, consistent with previous studies. 18,19 CVDs included CHD and stroke in the current study and were identified based on selfreported diagnosis history by a physician.…”

“…Subsequently, logistic regression was used to develop a hypertension risk classi cation diagnostic model, which was visualized using a column chart. At the same time, a website was developed to calculate the exact probability of hypertension, in order to facilitate personalized prediction of hypertension [23] . JoonNyung Heo et al developed three machine learning models for a retrospective study to predict longterm outcomes in patients with ischemic stroke, and evaluated the accuracy of the models through ASTRAL scores [24] .…”
