A distributed cross-layer routing protocol with channel assignment in multi-channel MANET

Abstract: Abstract-An innovative cross-layer routing approach, MCORCA (Multi-Channel On-demand Routing with Coordinate Awareness), is presented that utilizes multiple channels to improve the performance of wireless ad-hoc networks. The proposed cross-layer scheme adapts the strategy of channel assignment and the mechanism of dealing with conflicts. Channels are divided into a control channel and data channels; the control channel is used for scheduling, and data channels are used for data transmissions. MCORCA is an ext… Show more

“…Wang and Garcia [8] presented a new interlayer routing protocol that uses the multi-factor Q-learning algorithm to control transmission rate and node energy. This method assigns a reward to the next steps by continuously observing the reward of all status-actions, then uses the links with the highest reward for each route leading to the destination.…”

“…If a node's battery energy is 60, its fit score is 0.6, and this process for each criterion is repeated. The fitness of the number of hops is calculated in Eq (7), and the fitness of the node's mobility speed is calculated in Eq (8).…”

“…In [7], the authors provide a novel approach they call Multi-Channel On-Demand Routing with Coordinate Awareness (MCORCA). This approach, which makes use of numerous wireless channels, may increase the efficiency of MANETs.…”
