A dual‐band circularly polarized planar monopole antenna for Wireless Local Area Network/Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access applications

Abstract: In this letter, a new dual‐band circularly polarized (CP) planar monopole antenna is proposed. Simply by embedding an asymmetrical T‐shaped strip into the arc‐shaped feedline, dual‐band operation and CP radiation can be obtained. Furthermore, adding an inverted‐L‐shaped strip to the previous designing, the axial ratio bandwidths (ARBWs) can be greatly improved. After fabricating and then testing, the measured results indicate that the impedance bandwidths (IBWs) below 10‐dB can reach 240 MHz (2.39‐2.63 GHz) an… Show more

“…CPW-fed circularly polarized slot antenna was proposed by Chang et al 20 It revealed that the circular polarization radiation have been achieved by using the outer and inner ring slot in the antenna geometry. In the recent years, wideband circularly polarized antenna have been designed by the several authors, [21][22][23][24][25][26][27] but they are unable to achieve wideband AR bandwidth. However, this technique serves as the basis for working of our proposed antenna in article.…”

“…Besides, a hook-shaped monopole antenna 15 with 61% 3-dB ARBW is proposed by introducing an asymmetric L-shaped arm into the microstrip feeding line. Additionally, multiband circularly polarized monopole antenna (CPMA) is also investigated by using some perturbation strips in ref, [20][21][22][23][24] such as X-shaped slit, 20 "T," "I" and "E"shaped slots, 21 I-shaped strips, 22 T-and L-shaped strips, 23 a slit, 24 slit-loaded semi-circular patch, 25 inverted-L strip, 26 and two orthogonal stubs. 27 In this article, a novel wideband CPMA with modified characteristics is proposed.…”

“…Many methods have been reported to generate multi-frequency antennas through multi-stubbing techniques [1], slotting techniques [2][3], loaded metamaterial techniques [4], etc.In [5], the antenna model is composed of two double-T monopole elements, and each monopole element is composed of a vertical strip and two horizontal strips, and a multi-stub technique is used to generate two operating frequency bands. The antenna reported in [6] consists of a modified disc with an elliptical slot, a vertically placed rectangular bar and a ground plane with a rectangular slot, which can be applied to multiple frequency bands. In the literature [7], a dual-frequency antenna or a triple-frequency antenna is reported and a U-shaped slot is employed in the patch antenna.Different multi-frequency antennas are produced according to the position and number of the U-shaped slits. In [8], a novel ring dielectric resonator antenna with a conformal cylindrical engineering surface based on an electromagnetic periodic structure is proposed. The new ring dielectric resonator is used to improve the antenna gain and impedance bandwidth.…”
