A Dynamic Data Integration Approach to Build Scientific Workflow Systems

Abstract: The need for collaboration between individual scientific fields increases with the wish for more global engineering optimizations and assessment requirements. Since areas of research become more and more fine-grained domains of there own, it is still very desirable to cooperate with other experts with more chance than ever to gain synergies when science is scattered as today. But this exchange of knowledge comes only into consideration if it can be used in a simple way with at most an moderate initial effort. … Show more

“…It was introduced mainly to serve as a common language between the disciplinary analysis tools. Two software libraries 6 called TiXI d and TiGL e are being developed to ease the use of CPACS. While TiXI provides a simple interface to create, read, modify, and write CPACS datasets, TiGL generates a CAD f model of the aircraft and offers methods to query geometric data from this model.…”

“…However, to simplify the application of CPACS and to cover its special features (e.g. integration of external data files), DLR has developed a special support library called TIXI [28] (TIVA XML Interface). TIXI is based on the free libxml2 library [29] and can be used with various programming languages on several different platforms.…”

“…A second library, called TIGL (TIVA Geometry Library) [28], was developed to simplify the access to the parametric geometry model. Based on the free Open CASCADE CAD library [30], TIGL generates a 3D model from a CPACS aircraft geometry definition and provides high-level functions to query data from this model.…”

“…This is standardized data model and a special XML-file developed by the German Aerospace Center (DLR). To read the CPACS data the wrapper python packages TIXI and TIGL [66] are used. As of today, CPACS files are not able to handle hybridelectric aircraft.…”
