A esperança em gerações de futuro sombrio

Abstract

Num tempo em que muitas trajetórias de vida se caracterizam por um futuro incerto e imprevisível - com frequentes entropias e disritmias etárias -, propõe-se uma reflexão sociológica em torno de gerações de futuro sombrio: de jovens sem expectativas de futuro, mesmo quando crescentemente escolarizados, a idosos com uma esperança de vida alongada, mas descrentes em relação ao sentido da vida. Dados de inquéritos internacionais e estudos de caso serão convocados na análise de ansiedades de idade provocadas por frustrações e temores em relação ao futuro quando o presente é deficitário de esperança.<br>At a time when many trajectories of life are characterized by an uncertain and unpredictable future - with frequent entropies and arrhythmic stages - this proposes a sociological reflection concerning generations with a dark future: youth, even with increasing education, without future expectations, elderly with longer life expectancy but cynical about its significance. Data from international surveys and case studies are convened in analysis of the anxieties of age caused by the frustrations and fears in relation to the future when the present is deficient in hope

Youth and generations in times of crisis: Portugal in the global situation

“…At a time when the notion of "professional insertion" cannot be conceptualized anymore as a specific moment in life (denoted with ideas of "entrance in the active life" or "transition from school to work"), converting into an increasingly zigzagging, indeterminate, and inexact process (Alves 2008;Pais 2001), the articulations of this process with traditional markers of passage are creating transition forms to adulthood made of complex, uncertain, and insecure settings and itineraries (Vieira, Ferreira and Rowland 2015).
