A Experiência Parental Após O Diagnóstico Da Microcefalia Por Zika Vírus: Um Estudo De Caso

Abstract

| Objective:To report the parental experience after receiving the diagnosis of microcephaly by zika virus. Methods: A qualitative methodology was applied as a single case study type. The key informants were parents of a child with microcephaly by zika virus. The data collection instrument was the semi-structured interview, later analyzed and categorized through content analysis, based on Minayo's theory. The research was approved by the Ethics and Research Committee of the UNEB, under the protocol number 098615/2016 and held in March 2017, in a Clinical School of Physiotherapy in the Institution of Higher Education in Salvador Bahia. Results: The mother and father of a child with microcephaly for zika virus participated in the study. The parents were between the ages of 38 and 39 years old and the 1-year-old son was diagnosed in the perinatal period. The experience of parents of children with microcephaly caused by zika virus has caused changes in the family structure. The categories that emerged from the key informants' statements were: Parents' reactions and feelings regarding the discovery of microcephaly by son's zika virus, Mourning elaboration, Family dynamics, Support network and Expectations for the future. Conclusion: It was evidenced that the experience after the diagnosis of microcephaly by zika virus of the child runs through several phases, and the identification of these by health professionals becomes essential to bring comfort to these families and to provide better development for the child. RESUMO | Objetivo:Relatar a experiência parental após receber o diagnóstico da microcefalia por zika vírus. Estratégia metodológica: Optou-se por uma metodologia de caráter qualitativo do tipo estudo de caso único. Os informantes-chave foram pais de uma criança com microcefalia por zika vírus. O instrumento utilizado para coleta de dados foi a entrevista semiestruturada, posteriormente analisada e categorizada por meio da análise de conteúdo, embasada na teoria de Minayo. A pesquisa foi aprovada pelo Comitê de Ética e Pesquisa da UNEB, sob protocolo número 098615/2016 e realizada em março de 2017, em uma Clínica Escola de Fisioterapia de Instituição de Ensino Superior em Salvador, Bahia. Resultados: Participaram da pesquisa a mãe e o pai de uma criança com microcefalia por zika vírus. Os pais tinham entre 38 e 39 anos de idade e o filho com 1 ano e 2 meses, diagnosticado no período perinatal. A experiência vivenciada por pais de criança com microcefalia por zika vírus tem ocasionado mudanças na estruturação familiar. As categorias que emergiram das falas dos informantes-chave foram: Reações e sentimentos dos pais frente a descoberta da microcefalia por zika vírus do filho, Elaboração do luto, Dinâmica familiar, Rede de apoio e Expectativas para o futuro. Challenges and perspectives of mothers of children with microcephaly due to Zika virus infection

“…Nota-se a intermediação das repercussões pelas tecnologias diagnósticas e sobre este aspecto, as reflexões da Sociologia do Diagnóstico podem fornecer elementos importantes a essa discussão ao trazer o diagnóstico como categoria, processo e consequência (21) .
