A Facile Fabrication of PCL/OBC/MWCNTs Nanocomposite with Selective Dispersion of MWCNTs to Access Electrically Responsive Shape Memory Effect

Abstract: poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL)/ethylene‐α‐octene block copolymer (OBC)/multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) nanocomposite was prepared in this work. After achieving the co‐continuous phase morphology of PCL/OBC binary blend by varying the composition, MWCNTs were selectively dispersed in OBC as conductive filler to investigate the electrically responsive shape memory effect. The results indicated that the shape memory effect (SME) of PCL/OBC was sensitive to the composition of component. The optimal SME could be … Show more

“…3 Since shape memory materials (SMMs) can change their temporary shapes and then return to their original shape when subjected to the correct stimulus, they have several benefits over conventional smart materials. 4,5 Researchers used different stimuli such as pH, 6,7 magnetic and electric fields, [8][9][10] light, 11,12 humidity, 13,14 and heat (directly or indirectly), to activate the functioning of these smart materials. Biomaterials, 15,16 wearable electronics and textiles, [17][18][19] automotive and aerospace, 20,21 sensors and actuators, 22,23 self-healing, 24,25 smart packaging, 26 and multifunctional applications 27,28 are some of the important SMMs application.…”

“…Shape memory polymers are a kind of material that can give one or more temporary shapes and can be returned to the initial state by external field stimulation, such as heat [ 1 , 2 ], electric [ 3 , 4 ], solvent [ 5 ], magnetic field [ 6 , 7 ], humidity [ 8 , 9 ], light [ 10 , 11 ] and pH [ 12 , 13 ]. It has a wide application prospect in biomedical [ 14 , 15 ], self-repairing [ 16 , 17 ], intelligent textile [ 18 , 19 ], drug controlled release [ 20 , 21 ], aerospace [ 22 , 23 ] and other fields.…”
