Some other studies have found that contextual incongruity, either perceptually or conceptually, can facilitate metaphorical processing ( Van Weelden et al, 2011 ; Hu et al, 2014 ; Cao et al, 2019 ), but some others, in contrast, have found contextual incongruity inhibiting metaphorical comprehension ( Inhoff et al, 1984 ; Heckler and Childers, 1992 ; Boujena et al, 2021 ).
