A Faithful Mechanism for Incremental Multi-Agent Agreement Problems with Self-Interested and Privacy-Preserving Agents

Abstract: Distributed multi-agent agreement problems (MAPs) are central to many multi-agent systems. However, to date, the issues associated with encounters between self-interested and privacy-preserving agents have received limited attention. Given this, we develop the first distributed negotiation mechanism that enables self-interested agents to reach a socially desirable agreement with limited information leakage. The agents’ optimal negotiation strategies in this mechanism are investigated. Specifically, we propose … Show more

“…On the other hand, the rapid growth of technology studies has seen a much wider range of agent type appear, where moderately intelligent agents can also be found. As "agents" of many varieties have proliferated, there has been an explosion in the use of the term without corresponding consensus on its meaning, ranging from machines that can be pre-programmed to perform tasks to forms of performing low-level computer tasks while being instructed in a higher-level programming or scripting language (Farhadi & Jennings, 2021).…”

“…Determining appropriate rules to achieve a desired outcome when providers are selfish is the subject of incentive mechanism design (Myerson, 1988;Börgers, 2015;Farhadi & Jennings, 2021;Farhadi et al, 2019). Incentive mechanisms can be very diverse.…”

“…It is often very difficult to faithfully represent a mechanism and to know all the variables involved [18]. Consequently, the law of control, which will be associated with it, must be robust in order to overcome some nonlinearity or identification errors [19].…”
