“…[56] In another recent example of synthesized phenolic monomers, linear polymeric antioxidants were prepared with complex catechol-and gallol-like functional groups, which allowed for control over a variety of material properties such as hydrophobicity. [57] Though an array of synthetic monomers and polymers have been synthesized, with near endless possibilities for future structures, other factors beyond simply the addition of phenolic moieties need to be considered. Specifically, numerous fundamental studies have begun to explore the structure-function relationships between the components of synthetic phenolic polymers.…”

“…These were synthesized by reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization of poly(methacrylamide) with polyphenolic compounds. [ 228 ] However, the efficiency of the materials described above against NDs has not yet been evaluated.…”

“…Furthermore, 4-bromo catechols (Figure 2d) and pyrogallols (Figure 2j) have been tested for use in polymeric antioxidants [92,93]. In general, extensive studies on pyrogallolic species (also called tannins) have been developed during recent years for countless applications.…”
