A family of non‐isolated transformerless high step‐up DC‐DC converters

Abstract: Summary A family of new non‐isolated high step‐up DC‐DC converters has been devised and compared in terms of their characteristics (voltage gain, number of components, voltage stress on the diode and switch, etc). The high boost DC‐DC converters depend mainly on charging and discharging of the inductors and capacitors to realize step‐up function. One of the proposed converters is named the non‐isolated high step‐up (NHS) converter, which has been taken as an example to analyze. It is composed of a switch, two … Show more

“…Furthermore, duty ratio of the classical converters will tremendously increase by an increment of desired output voltage and this situation means more switching losses for the converter. Luo converters that have a very high boosting ability because of using voltage lift technique can be used to overcome the drawbacks of classical converters 4–6 . The positive output elementary super lift Luo converter (POESLLC) is a type of Luo converter topologies with a simple structure, which using super lift technique that allows the output voltage to increase geometrically.…”

“…On the contrary, non‐isolated converters have the advantages of low switch stress, small size, and high efficiency. The non‐isolated converters include the Buck, Boost, Buck‐Boost [11], NHS [12], QZS [13], SL [14], SC [14], Ćuk [15] and Zeta [16] converters. The non‐isolated converters comprise input and output common ground type and non‐common ground type converters.…”

“…Generally, energy storage elements like inductors, capacitors and diodes are additionally employed to enhance the voltage conversion ratio of conventional boost converter (CBC) 7,8 . In the single switch converters presented in various studies, 9‐11 voltage multiplier (VM) networks are adopted to obtain good voltage gain values.…”
