“…It was not until 1990 that CAT was proposed to measure pollutants in indoor air (5). This technology has now been evaluated in theoretical and experimental indoor (6)(7)(8)(9)(10)(11) and outdoor field studies (12)(13)(14).…”

“…Stowell et al (2005) applied AERMOD as odor footprint tool to estimate the livestock housing odor, where the odor footprints were developed for specific scenarios for visualizing the projected odor impact on the surrounding area. Piper et al (1999) studied the sulfur hexafluoride at known rates from a simulated volume source and measured the sulfur hexafluoride at various points in the study field by network sampling of Tedlar bag (SKC, Inc., PA, USA) and OP-FTIR spectrometer measurements (ETG, Inc., Happauge, NY, USA). Good correlation was found between the AERMOD predictions and OP-FTIR spectrometer data with an R 2 value of 0.78, and the AERMOD modeling results were found to only under-predict the OP-FTIR spectrometer data by approximately 1.21%-1.39%.…”

“…While lab-scale experiments make up the bulk of CST studies, this technique has also been deployed to monitor environmental emissions. For instance, Piper et al [33] used a 16-beam OP-FTIR array to map the concentration of sulfur hexafluoride over a 70 × 70 m area. Todd et al [34] reconstructed the ammonia distribution over a 107 × 255 m lagoon with a 17-beam OP-FTIR array.…”
