A framework for flexible sensor information dissemination

Abstract: The integration of the digital world into every aspect of our lives is becoming more and more preeminent. Nowadays, not only humans but also devices and the environments where we dwell are also able to provide their own information, through the usage of sensors. Through their interconnection over communication networks, sensors enable Ambient Intelligent scenarios achieving a true Internet of Things, and crossing the gap between computer systems and the real world. However, the different sensing devices and in… Show more

“…Taking as base the ODTONE 802.21 implementation [22], the MIH control of sensor devices in IoT scenarios has been successfully deployed and even enabled novel scenarios, such as energyefficient wireless interface control [23] and information dissemination [24]. However, we argue that this enhancement does not need to stop here.…”

“…As such, we developed and deployed a testbed scenario showing how a context-aware server can analyze media independent sensor information conveyed by a mobile terminal, and use such information to optimize EE capabilities on a multi-technology mobile terminal. Specific results on network performance using our developed signaling can be consulted in [3], whereas a study on the effect of our signaling in both node number and battery consumption can be found in [9].…”
