A framework for the selection of Six Sigma projects in services: case studies of banking and health care services in Taiwan

Abstract: This study develops a framework for effectively implementing service Six Sigma projects. The framework is composed of four phases: (1) initial project identification, which deploys candidate projects in accordance with a firm's strategic goals, (2) project value assessment, which evaluates project's value based on the financial return, cost, and its impact on employee behavior, (3) project complexity assessment, which examines scope, data availability, and risk associated with the project, and (4) project prio… Show more

“…The main challenge in the field of LSS in the financial sector during implementation is the lack of study that makes it difficult for the organizations to learn and implement the same (Heckl et al, 2010;Lokkerbol et al, 2012;Mahmutaj et al, 2015;Snee and Hoerl, 2007;Wang and Hussain, 2011). This result seems to lack common criteria to access the project progress, success and complexity (Hsieh et al, 2012;Buavaraporn and Tannock, 2013). Furthermore, researchers have observed that there is no certain understanding of the usage of LSS tools and systems in financial service organizations (Delgado et al, 2010).…”

“…Matrix and prioritization grids can provide assistance when trying to select patient safety projects in that context. They involve assessing criteria, such as urgency, level of impact, likeliness of occurrence, complexity, and anticipated value of the safety project [ 3 – 5 ]. FMEA methodology is similar to the matrix and prioritization grids in that it provides a systematic prioritization of factors.…”
