A graphene‐metamaterial hybrid structure for the design of reconfigurable low pass terahertz filters

Abstract: A graphene‐metamaterial hybrid structure for the design of reconfigurable low pass filters in terahertz region is proposed. This design manages to manipulate the resonance characteristics of metamaterial and terahertz wave response characteristics of the hybrid structure by controlling the chemical potential of graphene. The shift of the resonant frequency and the modulation of the resonant peak of the metamaterial, which have negative effects on the performance of the proposed filter, were studied and the thi… Show more

“…The electromagnetic gap between electronic and optical regimes, widely-known as the terahertz (THz) band (from 0.1 THz to 10 THz), has been drawing increasing attention during the last years. Such interest is mainly driven by a plethora of applications, including spectroscopy [1], imaging [2], security [3], sensing [4], and communications [5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12], among others. The first challenge the researchers tackled was the development of THz sources and detectors, which * Author to whom any correspondence should be addressed.…”
