Transportation networks are essential to the functioning of modern societies. They provide access to goods, services, and opportunities, connecting people and places. However, the efficient and effective management of these networks is a complex challenge that requires careful consideration of numerous factors, including capacity, demand, congestion, and user behavior. Game theory (GT) has emerged as a powerful tool for analyzing transportation systems and developing strategies to optimize their performance. This manuscript provides a comprehensive review of the application of GT in transportation networks from both microscopic and macroscopic perspectives. Specifically, it examines how GT has been used to analyze the behavior of individual travelers and transportation providers and how it has been used to develop strategies for managing congestion, improving efficiency, and reducing emissions. Lastly, the manuscript has the potential to provide a roadmap for future research and highlight the challenges in the application of GT in transportation networks.

A System Dynamics Model for Safety Supervision of Online Car-Hailing From an Evolutionary Game Theory Perspective

Car-hailing safety supervision is of great significance to ease the pressure on urban public transportation and facilitate people to travel safely and conveniently. In this paper, a novel tripartite evolutionary game theory is proposed to describe the interaction mechanism of the government supervision department, online vehicle platform security monitoring department, and car sharing owner in the process of China's Internet ride-hailing operation. The replication dynamics equations are used to elaborate the evolutionary stable strategies of stakeholders and system dynamics are presented to explore the dynamic simulation process of the evolutionary game model, analyze the stability of stakeholder interactions and determines an equilibrium solution. The meaningful simulation results are as follows: there is no stable strategy for the evolution of the three-party selection strategy; the optimized dynamic penalty incentive control scenario can not only effectively suppress fluctuations, but also achieve the effect of obtaining an ideal evolutionary stable strategy. It shows that the cost of government supervision, the platform monitoring and the online hailed car owner can influence the strategy choice of the stakeholders; the government should impose appropriate fines and penalty on the platform and reward car owners, which will help all parties to the game reach a stable state; appropriate punishment-reward factors help the system to reach steady state more easily. These results can provide a theoretical guidance for the government to promote the development of online car-hailing service and establishment of the supervision and management system. Online Car-Hailing System Performance Analysis Based on Bayesian Network

The concept of the sharing economy has attracted wide attention due to its huge impact on transforming traditional industries. Online car-hailing, combining the sharing economy and ICT technologies, shapes a new landscape, which can greatly shorten the traveler's waiting time and reduce the emptyrun rate of cars (such as Uber and DiDi). However, a few comprehensive studies have been conducted on the sustainable development of online car-hailing considering both the user experience and the operational cost. To address this issue, this paper systematically studies the influencing factors, their relations, and their impacts on online car-hailing in an empirical way. First, an index system in four key aspects, namely service, price, safety, and traveling time, is established to evaluate the user experience. Second, the Bayesian network theory is employed to model the complexity of each factor and the extent of its influence on the online car-hailing system with expert scores. The two most important influence paths affecting the passengers' choices of online car-hailing are determined. Third, we further construct an investment allocation model with the aim of minimizing the economic cost of the online car-hailing system while maintaining the system performance, considering the limiting factors, such as the complexity and cost. Finally, we perform a simulation experiment, which generates some practical suggestions for improving the online car-hailing system.
