2019 after being appointed to the role in December 2018. John Wallace, the Editor-In-Chief emeritus, was very helpful in describing the role and he had already put issue 19.1 into production and issue 19.2 was under the careful watch of guest editors. My first issue was 19.3 and I was ready to take on the new challenge. With great support from Nadia Qureshi, managing editor, I started to edit, read, review, and make decisions about a small number of manuscripts that I was assigned. I quickly realized that the heavy work of the journal happens with the editors and the managing editor. In the first couple of years, the expectation was that there would be six to eight manuscripts published in each issue. I continued John's practice of having a special issue once or twice a year in 2020. However, we learned from Springer, our publisher, that the journal should have 12 articles per year instead of six. We quickly transitioned to the new expectation with one change. We knew that it was too onerous to find 12 articles for a special issue so we adjusted by having a special theme of about six articles and the remaining articles as part of the regular issue with articles on science, mathematics, and technology education. We made an exception to this new rule in our 20.4 issue: Celebrating CJSMTE's 20th Anniversary. In this issue, we invited former editors-in-chief, current and former editors, long-term authors, and some of our first authors to write for this special issue. You can start with the editorial (McDougall, 2020a) and explore the wonderful articles written to capture the research and reviews from the first 20 years. In 2022, we expanded the journal to an average of 18 entries per issue. The editorial was an early feature of the journal. I had read a few editorials in the journal but it was not a regular feature. So, I started to write editorials for each issue, starting in 20.1 (McDougall, 2020b). Each editorial was fully translated into French to enhance our reach into the Francophone community. In a special issue on Teaching and Learning of Probability (issue 22.3), guest editors Ernesto Sanchez and Egan Chernoff provided an editorial in English, French, and Spanish to further the reach of the journal. These ventures into other languages provide opportunities for new readers to access the journal and learn more about our interesting, insightful, thoughtful, and inspiring articles, commentaries, and book reviews.
