In this study, we have developed a europium‐DPA lanthanide complex for the sensitive detection of uric acid. Since, uric acid plays a major role as a biomarker for kidney related diseases and metabolic diseases. Its detection is of high clinical significance. Our probe exhibits a bright red fluorescence with an emission at 613 nm, which is subsequently quenched by the addition of uric acid in a linear range of 0–16.39 µM with a low LOD of 7.54 µM. The probe shows good selectivity and sensitivity towards the detection of uric acid in the presence of coexisting biomarkers and ions present in body fluid. The clinical significance is evaluated in biological samples such as human serum and urine with satisfactory recovery percentage in the range of 86%–104%, respectively. Moreover, the practical applicability is studied in a paper strip model.
