Abstract:We develop a simple granular flow model for the dissipative power density and power draw in dry tumbling mills. The model is based on a Herschel-Buckley like granular rheology with a yield stress proportional to the pressure. Data obtained from Positron-Emission-Particle-Tracking is used to correlate dependence on fill, speed and lifters.
