A hairpin DGS resonator for application to microstrip lowpass filters

Abstract: A hairpin shaped DGS, consisting of two tilted slots with a separation angle, is studied as a unit cell in this contribution. It is further served as a microwave resonator for microstrip lowpass filter applications. Two prototype filters that respectively cascade the same unit cells and the scaled cells with a different scale ratio are analyzed. For demonstration purposes, the two prototype filters are optimally developed, fabricated and examined both from numerical simulations and from experimental validation… Show more

“…Figure A shows the proposed MTM unit cell. The suggested subwavelength MTM is based on an initial symmetrical split ring resonator DGS layout, which is designed and characterized as a lowpass filter . This MTM structure is implemented by etching the double slit complementary split ring resonator (DS‐CSRR) on a microstrip line ground plane.…”

“…In [6], an accurate model of a rectangular bracket DGS was presented and further validated by cascaded two and three DGS cells. In [7], the hairpin shaped DGS was studied and further developed for microwave filter applications. The developed demonstrator achieved a compact size and wide stopband suppression.…”
