This paper introduces an analysis of Thai speech recognition for controlled car parking assist in the system-on-chip architecture. The objective is to investigate the male and female voice command signals, including Thai and English words, issued by the native Thai users. Hardware and software co-design by the Xilinx VIVADO are designed on an ARM multicore processor and a reconfigurable system on a ZYBO board. The experiments for Thai and English word recognition are conducted by using the Mel-frequency cepstral coefficient approach and presented in the form of spectrograms. The comparison of a voice command via Bluetooth and a reference command stored on an SD card and the ZYBO embedded board on a miniature electric vehicle is verified with the Pearson’s correlation coefficient (PCC). The experimental results show the accuracies of the received Thai/English, male/female, and indoor/outdoor voice commands as compared with the reference voice commands in the noisy surroundings. Hence, our system can support Thai/English and male/female voice commands to perform a set of actions for maneuvering a car by the PCC.

Exterior Car Parking Assistance Algorithm Based on Reconfigurable System for Future Industry

A car accident while parking the car is caused by the car driver, who is invisible around the car. However, there are no solutions for parking assistance when the driver is outside the car. The objective of this paper is to propose a reconfigurable embedded system design by voice controlled parking assistance system for a prototype electric vehicle connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth. Hardware and software co-design using the Xilinx VIVADO as a software design tool is introduced. We design the hardware and software on an ARM multicore processor and the reconfigurable system board model ZYBO: XC7Z010 by considering it as hardware accelerator. The hardware of the proposed voice controlled exterior car parking assistance system is installed on the miniature electric vehicle. The experiments are tested successfully at the parking area for both reverse parking and reverse parallel parking. This proposed system is better suited for users so that they can control their car comfortably while parking safely.

Bio-inspired algorithm for decisioning wireless access point installation

This paper presents the bio-inspired algorithms for decisioning wireless access point (AP) installation. In order to achieve the desired coverage capability of APs, the bio-inspired algorithms are applied for robust competition and optimization. The main objective is to determine the optimal number of APs with the high coverage capability in the concerning area using the genetic and ant colony optimization algorithms. Received signal strength indicator (RSSI) and line-of-sight (LoS) gradient approach are the most important parameters for AP installation depending on the AP signal strength. Practical experiments are tested on the embedded system using Xilinx Kria KR260 and Raspberry Pi Zero 2W boards at the tested room size about 16 m wide and 40 m long inside the building. Xilinx Kria KR260 board is used to calculate the number of AP installation and localization compared to Xcode. Then, Raspberry Pi Zero 2W board is the representation of wireless AP for measuring the signal in the testing area. Experiment results show that maximum received signals strength is equal to -35 dBm at 6 m and there are six APs installation with high coverage area and maximum received signal strength at the area of 16×40 m2.
