Abstract: Background Pyrethroid insecticides are widely used because of their low toxicity in humans. Spray-type pyrethroids are often formulated with kerosene as a carrier solvent, and inhalation of kerosene-containing products can lead to pneumonia and the formation of lung abscesses.
