The observed interference from Cu 2 + , Co 2 + , Hg 2 + , Ag + , and Ni 2+ may attributed to their high binding affinity to the sensor, and the paramagnetic nature (Cu 2+ , Co 2+ and Ni 2+ ) [35] and ligand to metal charge transfer (Hg 2 + and Ag + ) [36] quenched the emission of the formed complex.
