“…The version of the conjuring prayer developed by Leo XIII sounds as follows: "Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas, omnis incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, omnis congregatio et secta diabolica, in nomine et virtute Domini Nostri Jesu Christi" (Rituale Romanum 1925, p. 539). In the early (prior to Leo XIII) versions of the ritual, the words "omnis congregatio et secta diabolica" are missing; the beginning of the prayer runs as follows: "exorcizo te," i.e., "I expel you" (Young 2016). At a certain time, this wording made exorcism a special tool of the cosmic battle of good against evil.…”
