A hula-hooping-like nonlinear buckled elastic string electromagnetic energy harvester for omnidirectional broadband excitations

Abstract: This paper reports a hula-hooping-like nonlinear buckled elastic string electromagnetic energy harvester for wideband vibration energy harvesting. The harvester is comprised of a magnetic rotor attached at the middle of a clamped-clamped buckled elastic string and a stator with an embedding coil array. Attributed to the geometric nonlinear characteristic of the elastic string, the harvester can convert the reciprocate vibration in arbitrary in-plane direction to a hula-hooping-like curvilinear translation plan… Show more

“…Huguet et al [27] studied the influence of the synchronized electric charge extraction circuit on the performance of a spring-type VEH consisting of a pre-compression spring and several hinged rods. In the third class, nonlinear forces are generated by geometric nonlinearity, such as buckling effect, large deformation, and so on [28]. For example, Qian et al [29] proposed a buckling-type VEH based on a beam that was inspired by the rapid shape transition of the Venus flytrap.…”
