A high-power and high-speed laser source was studied in this paper. The laser source consists of a high-speed DFB laser diode modulated by a LiNbO 3 modulator and a twostage hybrid fiber amplifier. The hybrid fiber amplifier contained a C-band erbium doped fiber amplifier pumped by a single mode laser diode, and an erbium/ytterbium co-doped double-cladding fiber amplifier pumped by two multimode laser diodes. At the single-mode laser diode pump power of 318 mW, and the total pump power of the two multi-mode pump source of 11.1 W, the maximum output power of 2.47 W and the signal rate of the laser output of 1 Gb/s were obtained. The output spectrum of high speed laser source was measured. The main peak at the center wavelength of 1555.45 nm was strong, indicating well inhibited amplified spontaneous emission.
