A Hybrid MCDM Method Using Combination Weight for the Selection of Facility Layout in the Manufacturing System: A Case Study

Abstract: Facility layout in the manufacturing system is an elaborate production activity since multiple, uncertain, and conflicting factors would affect facility layout decisions. Selecting the best facility layout among alternatives is considered as a problematic multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) problem. Generally, the facility layout is evaluated by the MCDM method with redundant factors, separate weights, and independent relationships between factors. To overcome this defect, this paper intends to propose a hybr… Show more

“…One way to overcome these shortcomings is to extend the Delphi method to the fuzzy environment, which was performed by Murry et al [37]. e Delphi method, alone or in combination with other methods, in conventional form or in the fuzzy environment, has been used in various fields to evaluate renewable energy development projects [38], locate terminals [39,40], select plant layout [41], define typical structures of intermodal terminals [42], evaluate battery storage systems [43], plan intermodal terminals [44], etc.…”

“…In contrast, a combined evaluation model is considered a workable solution to address this issue. Therefore, this study proposes a new combination evaluation model based on closeness degree -GWA operator combination measurement model based on closeness, to improve the scientific rationality of the evaluation [28][29][30][31].…”
