The original FlexiChain and its descendants are a revolutionary distributed ledger technology (DLT) for cyber-physical systems (CPS) and their embedded systems (ES). FlexiChain, a DLT implementation, uses cryptography, distributed ledgers, peer-to-peer communications, scalable networks, and consensus. FlexiChain facilitates data structure agreements. This thesis offers a Block Directed Acyclic Graph (BDAG) architecture to link blocks to their forerunners to speed up validation. These data blocks are securely linked. This dissertation introduces Proof of Rapid Authentication, a novel consensus algorithm. This innovative method uses a distributed file to safely store a unique identifier (UID) based on node attributes to verify two blocks faster. This study also addresses CPS hardware security. A system of interconnected, user-unique identifiers allows each block's history to be monitored. This maintains each transaction and the validators who checked the block to ensure trustworthiness and honesty. We constructed a digital version that stays in sync with the distributed ledger as all nodes are linked by a NodeChain. The ledger is distributed without compromising node autonomy. Moreover, FlexiChain Layer 0 distributed ledger is also introduced and can connect and validate Layer 1 blockchains. This project produced a DAG-based blockchain integration platform with hardware security. The results illustrate a practical technique for creating a system depending on diverse applications' needs. This research's design and execution showed faster authentication, less cost, less complexity, greater scalability, higher interoperability, and reduced power consumption.

The crowdsourcing platform serves as an intermediary managing the interaction between a requester who posts a decomposable task and a pool of workers who bid to solve it. Each worker intending to take up the task (partially or fully) decomposes it into multiple independent subtasks and submits it to the platform. Selection of a diverse set of workers (based on the bids received) to solve the decomposable task is challenging as it requires balancing factors like cost and quality while encouraging collaboration. We propose a Worker Set Computation (WSC) methodology to address these challenges by selecting a custom set of potential workers who can collaboratively complete the task with the optimal cost, in an efficient way. The aging technique is employed to dynamically update the weight of each worker, giving more weightage to the feedback received in the recent past. This, in turn, not only favors those workers who were rated well in the immediate past but also ensures that one odd feedback does not influence the overall rating heavily. We compare the performance of the proposed method against the state‐of‐the‐art methods, considering the computational (and budget) requirements, as well as the aging‐based worker rating.

The success of blockchain technology in cryptocurrencies reveals its potential in the data management field. Recently, there is a trend in the database community to integrate blockchains and traditional databases to obtain security, efficiency, and privacy from the two distinctive but related systems. In this survey, we discuss the use of blockchain technology in the data management field and focus on the fusion system of blockchains and databases. We first classify existing blockchain-related data management technologies by their locations on the blockchain-database spectrum. Based on the taxonomy, we discuss three types of fusion systems and analyze their design spaces and trade-offs. Then, by further investigating the typical systems and techniques of each type of fusion system and comparing the solutions, we provide insights of each fusion model. Finally, we outline the unsolved challenges and promising directions in this field and believe that fusion systems will take a more important role in data management tasks. We hope this survey can help both academia and industry to better understand the advantages and limitations of blockchain-related data management systems and develop fusion systems that meet various requirements in practice.
