A literature review and future perspectives on maintenance optimization

Abstract: Purpose -The purpose of this paper is to review the literature on maintenance optimization models and associated case studies. For these optimization models critical observations are made. Design/methodology/approach -The paper systematically classifies the published literature using different techniques, and also identifies the possible gaps. Findings -The paper outlines important techniques used in various maintenance optimization models including the analytical hierarchy process, the Bayesian approach, the … Show more

“…The paper [7] is a very large review on machinery diagnostics and prognostics implementing condition-based maintenance using 271 references and other reviews in the paper [19] using 104 references which point to future perspectives on maintenance optimization. These two references [7,19] fully support the authors method, from data collection through data processing to optimal maintenance decision making.…”

“…Several review papers on maintenance policies have been published (Wang 2002;Garg and Deshmukh 2006;Sharma et al 2011). For detailed information on the general area of maintenance theory, readers may read the book by (Nakagawa 2006).…”

“…The study, that was carried out, also regarded the evaluation of the OEE measure values obtained [2,18], the possibilities of its improvement [31,39] as well as its computer based (automated) calculation [30]. Different models of optimization of the machine maintenance were also presented [32].…”

“…The study, that was carried out, also regarded the evaluation of the OEE measure values obtained [2,18], the possibilities of its improvement [31,39] as well as its computer based (automated) calculation [30]. Different models of optimization of the machine maintenance were also presented [32].According to the authors, the analysed references lack a comprehensive comparative analysis of the machine evaluation measures practically applied that would take into account e.g. enterprise's size, industry, capital type, or production type.…”
