A Literature Review: Efficient Vm Migration Techniques for Energy Reduction in Cloud Computing

Abstract: Broadly speaking cloud computing is nothing but a highly 'utilitarian' orientation of IT services where users benefited on a pay-as-you go basis. In a way it enables the hosting of pervasive applications from consumer, scientific and business domain. We expect all electronic gadgetry to be 'energy efficient' to possibly achievable limits. So our data centers hosting cloud application must be cost effective and the same time should avoid undue burden of carbon footprint. While excising economy on power consumpt… Show more

“…Due to highly competitive environment in this sector each and every service provider wants to satisfy their customers with a highly optimized service having 24 x 7 service availability, high storage, optimized level of multi tenancy and virtualization etc. But while meeting the QoS factors without any compromise, most of the cloud providers have to invest a lot in terms of power consumption in data centers also [2][3][4]. An idle server consumes 70% of the peak power [11] and hence leads to major energy efficiency .…”

“…Some researchers (Banerjee A. et. Al ,2013) have proposed energy efficient models [3] . Some problems have been solved by linear regression method or other statistical methods , others have preferred working on hardware level .…”
