Abstract:Sellar and parasellar masses are common intracranial neoplasm. Patients undergoing surgical resection of these tumors are frequently given perioperative glucocorticoid therapy. There are few studies assessing the need and the safety for such empirical approach. Based on the evidence available, this article summarize the recommendations for the perioperative steroid replacement therapy in pituitary adenomas surgery.
