“…In the adductor magnus group, only one patellar redislocation occurred during the median followup of 10.1 years, which we consider a good result. The patients who underwent distal realignment surgery were treated by the Roux-Goldthwait procedure, which is considered a reliable method for treatment of recurrent patellar dislocation [10,25,28,34]. Overall good long-term results were achieved in both groups after operatively treated recurrent patellar dislocation, the redislocation rate being 11% (four of 36).…”

“…Mean Tegner, Lysholm, and Kujala scores, as well as a mean VAS score for pain and discomfort during activity, were determined at the mean follow-up of 26 years. The mean Lysholm score was 67 (95% CI, 53-81), the mean Kujala score was 68 (95% CI, 58-79), the mean VAS score for pain and discomfort was 48 (95% CI, 34-62), and the mean Tegner score was 4 (95% CI, [3][4][5]. Although these statistics are purely descriptive, they do provide a longterm functional outcome predictor for patients without any associated visible intra-articular abnormalities undergoing the Roux-Elmslie-Trillat procedure for patellar subluxation or dislocation.…”

“…Patients often present with symptoms that relate to instability or maltracking, because the patellofemoral joint is rather incongruent and the patella is a small bone that moves a large amount during knee flexion-extension and is acted upon by powerful muscles that converge from different directions. The frequency and complexity of clinical problems has led to a wide range of surgical procedures 1 that address joint geometry, 2,3 skeletal alignment, [4][5][6][7] or the soft tissues. 8,9 Little data are available providing objective information about the effects of these factors on patellar tracking or relationships to symptoms.…”
