Abstract: Soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor Attachment protein REceptor (SNARE) proteins catalyze the fusion process of vesicles with target membranes in eukaryotic cells. To do this, they assemble in a zipper-like fashion into stable complexes between the membranes.
