Abstract:Medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) is a relatively rare thyroid malignancy, constituting a small percentage of all thyroid cancer cases. Even more rare is the occurrence of mixed MTC and papillary thyroid cancer (PTC), found in a very small fraction of MTC cases. These cancers originate from different cell types with distinct developmental origins.
