A Marketing Strategy in a Closed-Loop Supply Chain with Loss-Averse Consumers

Abstract: The importance of remanufacturing system has been extensively investigated in recent years. Taking into account the consumer valuation uncertainty and the demand uncertainty, this paper addresses the issue of closed-loop supply chain with remanufacturing by game theory. We consider two types of consumers in the market: loss-neutral consumers and loss-averse consumers. The lossneutral consumers are completely rational. The loss-averse consumers, on the other hand, are with losses being more painful than equal-s… Show more

“…Most of the literature discussed CLSCs based on deterministic and static models. However, there are models that have been developed in stochastic [91,187,192,245], fuzzy [168,240], and risk [114,257] environments. These models are distinguished in the drawn figures (see Structures 128,142,170,184;Structures 26,29,30,31; and Structures 56, 57, in Figure 7, respectively).…”

“…Table 10 shows that the majority of the publications focused on the customer acceptance of the selling channel, customer acceptance of the remanufactured product and competition between the collection and selling channels. A completely different research by Liao and Li [56] focused on loss averse and loss neutral customers. This factor has not been looked into by other publications focusing on pricing and reverse channel decisions.…”

“…Wu et al [35] found that consumers' perceptions of product innovations evolve over time. Liao et al [36] seized consumer neutral and disgusting consumption and the two types of consumer valuation and demand uncertainty, through game theory to solve the problem of closed-loop supply chain and remanufacturing and introduced utility functions to analyze market demand and determine the optimal pricing and channel strategy for manufacturers' profit maximization. We identify changes in the warranty strategy between new and remanufactured products based on the consumer behavior theory, which has been given little attention in the aforementioned studies.…”
