Abstract:Optical imaging of activity has provided valuable insight into brain function and accelerated the field of neuroscience in recent years. Genetically encoded fluorescent activity sensors of calcium, neurotransmitters and voltage have been tools of choice for optical recording of neuronal activity. However, photon scattering and absorbance limits fluorescence imaging to superficial regions forin vivoactivity imaging. This limitation prevents recording of population level activity in lower brain regions of experi… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
