Abstract:We present a new microfluidic method for dynamically assaying bacterial aerotaxis and controlling taxis-based bacterial self-assembly.The method utilizes an electrochemical oxygen-generating technology previously developed by our group [1]. This device uses electrolysis at many microelectrodes to generate controlled doses of dissolved oxygen; these doses can be superimposed to pattern microscale gradients with precise spatial and temporal resolution. We demonstrate our method by performing aerotaxis experiments… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
