A miniature piston-cylinder apparatus for high-pressure X-ray diffraction in conjunction with energy dispersion

Abstract: A miniature piston-cylinder high-pressure cell has been constructed for experiments with energy-dispersive Xray diffraction. The maximum pressure achieved was 37 × 108 Pa. Examples are given for KC1 and MgO, both measured with NaC1 as an internal standard. The phase transition in KC1 has been observed and the CsC1 structure type verified.
